Chris Preston graduated from the Australian National University with degrees in science and law. He has extensive drafting experience and a detailed knowledge of food law, administrative law and regulatory affairs.
Formerly of the Attorney-General's Department, Federal Bureau of Consumer Affairs, Chris has a strong knowledge of the consumer protection and product liability provisions in Parts V and VA of the Trade Practices Act.
He was the Principal Legal Adviser to Australia's national food regulator, now called Food Standards Australia New Zealand, and for 7 years from 1991 to 1998 drafted Australia's food standards.
He was the legal adviser on the team that negotiated the Australia New Zealand treaty in relation to the development of joint food standards.
In private practice since 1998, Chris has worked with Baker & McKenzie and Weekes Preston before establishing Legal Finesse as a boutique regulatory relations law firm.
